Let's start at the very beginning...
Well, it all started because I was looking to save money on laundry detergent. It's a high-ticket grocery item, even if you get the cheap-o generic brands. And those made our skin itchy!
So began my quest for finding the perfect recipe for a simple laundry detergent that actually gets the job done. After gathering several recipes and seeing what the different ingredients accomplished, I formulated my own product. Hence, the birth of Clean Simply laundry detergent. Try it. It works.
Now then, the most expensive ingredient in the laundry detergent is castile soap. It’s the best kind of soap to use for my detergent, but it’s pretty darned expensive, so I thought, “How hard can it be to make soap?” And I learned.
Guess what. I think it's FUN!!
One thing led to another, and now I’ve got two dozen or so soap recipes as well as line of pampering and skin care and spa products, including shampoo, body butter, scrubs (body and facial) bath bombs, bath salts, and I’m just starting to make cute little guest soaps.
The best part of making my own stuff is that I control what goes into it, and what stays OUT of it! No parabens, no phthalates, no phosphates, no gross chemical additives.
Why Natural Soap?
Handmade soap retains all of its natural glycerin, so it doesn’t dry out the skin. Everyone thinks that soap naturally dries out the skin, and that’s just the way it is. That’s simply not the case! Soap began to dry out the skin when big business started messing around with it. Commercial soap companies extract the glycerin from their soap and sell it to lotion companies (or use it in their own lotion products.)
Savvy business move, yes… but bad for soap.
Natural is better.
I don't package the laundry soap in glass anymore, but isn't that a nice picture? ;-) |
